Anna joined HM Consultants in 2013 and was appointed Partner and Director in 2015.

Anna began her career in the Business Advisory division of BDO Christchurch and has gained significant experience in this field.

She is the sole Partner in HM Consultants and has been instrumental in expanding the business advisory division to cater for online accounting systems and the need for real-time quality financial reporting.

Anna has over 15 years of accounting experience within a number of sectors, including hospitality, manufacturing and construction, particularly in the implementation of computerised accounting systems and related training.

Anna believes that it is important that her clients have a good understanding of their financial performance and position and will go the extra mile to help train her clients so that they feel confident in their accounting abilities.

Anna understands the importance of a work-life balance.

Anna loves spending time with her family, including her young daughters, Bella and Charlotte and their Pug, Doug.

In her spare time she competes provincially and nationally in athletics, having won a number of national medals and has acquired several Canterbury and New Zealand records over her years of competing. She also likes travelling, both through New Zealand and the rest of the world - with her favourite place being Queenstown.

Phil has a wide range of commercial experience. Before becoming a Chartered Accountant, he worked in retail management and then financial management (predominantly in the manufacturing sector) with well known brands such as Liquor King, Honda, Macs, Humanware and Jasol.

This background has provided a good understanding of the pressures and issues associated with running successful businesses which is more than just the numbers, but the real issues faced by business owners on a day to day basis.

Phil has a passion for the SME’s. He likes to work alongside business owners building relationships that enable him to provide more personable support tailored to business and personal goals.

Phil also enjoys helping clients work smarter using systems to generate efficiencies and better processes so that you can see the wood for the trees. Information is power. It simplifies the compliance process and enables him to work with his clients implementing strategies that make a difference to the lives.

In his spare time Phil can be found on the sidelines supporting country community rugby. He is a keen supporter of his adult children and enjoys coaching and administration of the game at the grass roots.

Ben joined HM Consultants in January 2019 after working in other mid-size accounting firms in Christchurch.

Ben has over 15 years accounting experience within a wide variety of sectors and businesses, both in Christchurch and around New Zealand.

Ben has experience in dealing with a wide range of businesses, ranging from sole traders to nationwide organisations.

Ben also has a lot of experience with different accounting packages and systems and is keen to find the best way for his clients to minimise their time spent on accounting and compliance so they can free up their time to work on their business.

In his spare time, Ben often enjoys getting out into nature somewhere, for a hike or a bike, or spending time with his children.
